Terri’s was raised in Ohio. Early in life her love for animals and nature was apparent..
Her adventurous spirit led her to live in eight different states, each experience, shaping her perspective and deepening her appreciation for diverse landscapes and wildlife.
In 2010 seeking new adventures and a change of scenery, Terri and her husband Andy relocated to North Carolina. They settled initially, in the town of Leland, North Carolina but After ten years of life near the ocean, they decided to move to the mountains and chose a home in Mills River, NC. This new chapter has allowed Terri to further explore her passion for the outdoors. She enjoys hiking the landscapes of Western North Carolina taking photos to be used a references for her paintings. Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains and inspired by a vibrant art community, Terri decided to pursue her art full time.
Terri actively participates in workshops and classes, believing wholeheartedly in the idea that “You always have more to learn.” This mindset reflects her dedication to her craft and her desire to continually evolve as an artist. By seeking out new experiences and knowledge, she enriches her artistic practice and incorporates these fresh ideas and techniques into her work.
Today Terri can often be found hiking through the mountains, immersing herself in the beauty of nature or volunteering with her favorite charity, Shelter Dog Transport Alliance.
With camera in hand, she captures stunning landscapes and wildlife of Western North Carolina. These photographs serve as inspiration for her art, allowing her to translate the essence of the natural world onto paper or canvas.
Her artwork reflects the details and personalities of the animals she encounters, showcasing her deep appreciation for their beauty and grace. Through her creative expression, Terri not only shares her love for animals and nature but also raises awareness about the importance of finding homes for animals in shelters and the protection of wildlife. Each piece she creates is a testament to her lifelong passion.
She uses soft pastels, the purest of pigments with a vibrancy that cant be matched. Terri “says this medium is so hands on that I feel like I am sculpting the landscape and animal forms.” While Terri does paint a lot of animals and wildlife, she also produces still life’s and florals in pastel or gouache.
